Best Value for your Money
Modular homes are built in a controlled indoor environment where materials are protected from the weather, vandalism and theft. The assembly-line process reduces material waste and efficiently coordinates the skilled craftsmen moving between workstations. All of these factors reduce the cost of your home.
High Quality
Precision engineering guarantees a lifetime of structural durability. Modular homes are built with 33% more lumber than site-built homes. Each module must be structurally sound to withstand the stresses of transportation and craning providing you with a stronger, longer-lasting home. Sheetrock is glued and screwed to reduce movement, and all components are precision cut on jigs. Quality control is maintained throughout the building process by continuous inspection of every aspect of construction. None of these advantages are possible with site-built homes.
Speed
You can expect to move into your home about four months after placing your order. Site built homes usually require six months to a year to complete. Factory craftsmen will be busy building your home while contractors are clearing your land, digging your well or pouring your concrete. By completing your site work and building your home at the same time, the modular process cuts your waiting time in half.
Peace of Mind
The price of your modular home is guaranteed from the factory. There are no cost overruns, vanishing sub-contractors or unrealistic estimates. Your home arrives on your site 85% to 90% complete, tightly wrapped to protect it from the weather and fully inspected to comply with the building codes in your area.
Greener Construction
It is your home, and not your car, that causes your greatest environmental impact. Environmentalists attribute more than half of all greenhouse gases and pollution to the use of energy, materials and utilities in your home.
Our Energy Star homes are already designed for fuel efficiency, but the unique construction process gives modular a green advantage. Many components are precut for hundreds of homes at a time, maximizing the use of materials and reducing waste. Modular homes are more tightly sealed, partly because of stringent third-party inspections during factory construction and the OSB board, commonly used in the walls, flooring and roof are created from trees harvested in fast-growth forests. These are just a few of the advantages you currently find in modular homes but the future looks even greener. By the end of 2008 our Penn Lyon factory will introduce a new series of floor plans specifically designated "green". |
