How long does it take to build a modular house?
You can usually move into your new home four months after placing your order, which is about half the time needed to build a new house on site.
Why are modular homes more cost effective than site built homes?
There are two main reasons:
1. The factory building process itself reduces costs. Materials are ordered in large quantities and used more efficiently because they are cut on jigs. They are protected from weather damage and theft – all issues that can add unexpected increases to the cost of completing a site-built home. Also, the craftsmen who build the homes are efficiently coordinated to move from one task to another, maximizing the use of their time. They show up every day and work until the job is done.
2. Modular building shortens the over-all time to completion. Site built homes can take up to a year to complete, leaving you vulnerable to cost overruns from increases in fuel, sub-contractor rate hikes or the rising costs of materials.
Modular building makes it much easier for you to stick to your original building budget because the price of the home is guaranteed at the time of contract and the time to completion is cut in half.
What are my heating choices?
Your home can be built with a forced hot air system, hot water baseboard or radiant heat.
Can I build on a slab?
NO. Modular homes are designed to be built on a foundation. You will need at least a crawl space beneath your home for your furnace, hot water heater and access to your electrical and plumbing connections.
